Some Tender Loving Care is all some dogs need.

Socialization is a big key to any puppy or dogs life.

Dogs come to the rescue that have been, abused, abandoned and then some have just not been taken care of. There are very few of us that volunteer, but we give as much time as we can to take care of and make sure that the dogs and puppies are socialized. To socialize and work with some dogs it only takes a soft spoken voice to comfort and assure them that everything will be alright, but then on others it requires a special treat, patience, then some patience and oh, did I say some patience? What we build up in hours and days of work can be destroyed in only a minute. As in this picture above you can see a volunteer spoon feeding the dog in order to get the dog to learn to trust us and know that we only bring good things to it. You must remember that some dogs may have been beaten, abused and never really had a loving touch.

Time to play and then always to learn as time permits to walk on leash. Not all dogs will leave the rescue walking on a leash but with time and patience they can be taught to do so. To have anything worthwhile you must work for it. Each dog will have to learn to trust you and you in turn can then begin to trust it. It has to be a team effort.

Not only do we socialize the dogs, feed, water and work with the dogs, but from time to time there arises a situation that we must take care of a wound. You never know what you will be doing next. You may have a dog to come into the rescue with cuts and scratches and you become the one to doctor them back to health and during that the dog learns to trust you and develops a bond with you.

We are always in need of people to help us out.

Here is one of our volunteers helping out at the Adopt-A-Thon.

Belly rubs are a must, don't you think? Big or small, they all like belly rubs!
